ParticipantModel converter finally done. It’s a simple command-line tool, that takes 3D model file name as parameter and converts it’s meshes into Train Fever mesh format (.msh and .msh.blob pairs).
This program just converts model geometry. To add converted models to the game you need to manually write .mdl config and so on. I will make tutorial, how to entirely add your trains and etc in game, later.
Supported input model format: Collada .dae, Blender .blend, 3Ds Max .3ds, Wavefront .obj and many others.
You can download it here http://omich.pngamers.org/tfmc.php#enSeptember 8, 2014 at 08:01 #5959starman001
ParticipantExcellent ! A big “thank you” for that. I will take a look at it the next days, unfortunately my vacation is now over 🙂
I suppose it’s working for all meshes ? Because I’m mostly interested in upgrading the ugly industry models.

ParticipantAwesome. Finally got my model converted and I’m ready to make it into the game. But the UV map is all screwed up. I have triple checked that the object file I use to convert have the UV map intact.
Is there any naming convention or something I need to use?

ParticipantHey Olaholdor, try to ask Merk or Mediziner from train-fever.net, they both made a working model from scratch.

ParticipantThanks Alex!
I had to flip both the model and the texture map. We’ll see how things progress now that this tool is here. 🙂
Will probably need some info on how to deal with the .mdl file and placement of bogies etc.September 9, 2014 at 21:26 #6668olahaldor
