There is a message referring to ‘industry/plastic_1850.mdl … not valid … usually caused by modding’. I have re-installed the game, but this makes no difference. Is there something else that I can try?

Steam Client -> Train Fever -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache

This will download the file and everything else you delete under the Train Fever folder

I had run Verify, but not deleted Res first. Doing it now and waiting to see if it works.

I do not buy games for the PC often, so I may be out of touch, but, surely, when you pay for a game it ought to work well, have a manual or tutorial …
