From Thursday until Sunday (September 18 – 21), part of the Train Fever team will be at the Tokyo Game Show.

We would be very happy to welcome everyone at booth 2-C10 in the General Exhibition Area. Train Fever can be played there and the team will be ready to answer questions.

Press is invited to schedule meetings for interviews. To do so, please send an email to info AT train-fever.com and suggest a meeting time.

The game will be translated into Japanese until then. However, to our knowledge, there is no mod for the famous Japanese Shinkansen train so far 😉

Therefore, we invite all modders to model one of those great trains. If one of you achieves to model such a train please post a link here when done. The best train will be awarded with a surprise gift. There is plenty of information about adding new trains to the game available in the internet. One very nice introduction can be found here. A great place for getting information about mods is train-fever.net.

As already announced, we will provide documentation and tools for mods in the future. However, first we need to care about support and fix all known issues.

Finally, let us emphasize that development continues and you can expect new patches and updates in this week.

About Tokyo Game Show
The Tokyo Game Show (東京ゲームショウ Tōkyō Gēmu Shō), commonly known as TGS, is a video game expo / convention held annually in the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Tokyo, Japan. It is presented by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) and Nikkei Business Publications, Inc.

Starting today, Train Fever can also be played on Mac OS X and Linux systems.

Existing Windows players can install the game on Mac and Linux systems as well. New players always buy the game for all platforms.

We are excited that Train Fever is now available for all major platforms. In the next days, we focus on improving the game as announced in the “Post release plans” update.

During the last days we had been following all discussions in the forums and also on Steam. In addition, we analyzed crash reports and we have been listening to all emails and feedback sent to us. As a result, we have just released a first major stability patch, which should fix the most important crashes.

We found out that the game was not playable due to crashes for about 1-2% of all customers, even with up-to-date graphics card drivers. With this first major stability patch we hope to bring this percentage down. However, please note that the patch will not bring this percentage to zero, so we kindly ask you for patience even if the patch does not help for your specific system. You can be sure that we do all possible efforts also in the next days.

Still we would like to emphasize that you should update the graphics card driver as soon as you experience a crash. For that, please use one of the following links (don’t use Windows auto update etc.):

AMD graphics cards
NVIDIA graphics cards
INTEL graphics cards

Also we would like to remind you to be patient especially during the first launch of the game. Due to texture compression and similar tasks the first launch can take several minutes. Just wait and don’t kill the game.

In the next days, we’ll continue to work on the announced improvements (“Post release plans”).

We had a brilliant launch and we are very pleased that first game reviews draw positive conclusions! For instance, the most important German game magazine GameStar rated Train Fever with “very good” and 82%. For a debut title of a small team like ours this is just awesome!

Let us say a big thank you to everyone who bought the game. You can be sure that we care about you and your input also in the future.

We are excited that there are a lot of discussions about Train Fever, especially in the Community-Hub on Steam. Of course, there are also critical votes which we take very serious. This project was based on community feedback since the very beginning (crowdfunding) and it’s absolutely sure that we will carefully listen to the community also in the future.

This said, it should be clear that there will be serious updates for the game in the next weeks. You may wonder how our plans for the next days look like. Let us give a short summary:

• Improve performance
• Reduce size of save game files
• Optimize support for people who cannot start the game
• Various small visual polish and UI improvements
• Provide Mac and Linux versions

Official release notes for every update will be published. A first small patch will already be published later today.
